Waxing had been a terrifying experience from the very time I had started it. I generally dreaded it as it would be just another painful experience with hours in the parlor. And to my annoyance were the rashes and scars I am left with after the waxing session. The irritation sometimes on my skin was just unbearable and I was left with ice cold water and ointments to apply to soothe my skin. The burning sensation and the rashes were always a nightmare while my skin just turned red and blue. Adding to this was the fear of hot wax and unhealthy wax strips which never kept up to the hygiene standards.

Gillette Venus organised an interactive a panel discussion with Kriti Sanon along with renowned aesthetic physician Dr. Rashmi Shetty and make-up artist Namrata Soni to educate and bust myths around shaving. They shared their expertise and enlightened women on the techniques of shaving and vouched for shaving being one of the most hassle free and painless methods of female hair removal. I gained confidence on shaving and now I prefer shaving rather than waxing. In my next post I will be discussing how a person can shave hassle free.

For my readers to gain confidence on shaving I am in this post discussing some of the common myths associated with shaving:

Myth

Post shaving skin is dry and flaky and itchy.

That’s absolutely wrong, using razors in right way never leaves the skin dry, flaky and itchy. The correct way to use a razor is to wet the area you want to shave or use a shave gel for better results and after shaving apply a moisturizer.

Myth

Shaving leads to skin darkening.

That’s not true. The fact being hair growth is hard or fast depends on the genetics and your body type

There are a number of options for hair removal like waxing, using epilators, Laser for hair removal but I feel shaving is the fastest, easiest and one of the inexpensive options and at the comfort of your home.

I guess. It’s the opposite! Shaving very subtly exfoliates the top layer and so the question of skin darkening doesn’t arise at all.

In a recent session hosted by Gillette Venus at Vivanta By Taj (New Delhi) issues related to shaving and hair removal amongst women came up. The seminar included many aspects of shaving and discussed myths associated with shaving. The campaign is named #subscribetosmooth challenge.

Whether to use a razor for shaving or not is a common question among most of the urban working women these days. With a busy life style and Packed working schedules most women give parlour a miss. But this sacrifice on personal care may not yield desired results. So this time actress Kriti Sanon along with Dr Rashmi Sethi ( Aesthetic Physician) and Namrata soni came as panel. Session included at length the anxiety women have before shaving as we all are into the habit of waxing our hair. Trying something new may sound like a bad idea for most ladies, including me.

A few personal experiences from the panel made me courageous enough to try this product and Yes, I have taken up a 30-Days #Subscribetosmooth challenge.
