Dream With Your Eyes Open

A sunny afternoon it was and I was wishing it should rain. But, God my dear, had no plans or it. At the same time around, a friend of mine striked the bell of my house and and gave a call at the same time, to ensure my presence at my place.

 And the very next question - "Are You Home? Let's catch up ! I'm bored sitting and shuffling between home and office and home-and-office, day in and day out.". And mind you, all this, without a pause...   Aaaahhhhh... A sigh of relief after hearing this start-to-end. And I jumped with an answer YES... Right on the bean bag, I was sitting on, well within the comforts of my home and to get a stunned and surprising, shocking and yes a horrifying look from my elder sister(Who was worried if the bean bag would burst out).

 Did away with the level of permissions before stepping out of my place, in my biggggg world of dreams (my dad and my eldest sister calls them illusions).. But then, I was all set to go.

 Landed up at Connaught Place, and pushed my friend inside Oxford Bookstore.. And that's my kind of a place, that gives me solace and peace.

 Now cutting it rather short, as I anyways love writing and putting down my expressions, i would rather put forward a review of what I read, bought, re-read and yes continue to be inspired by.

DREAM WITH YOUR EYES OPEN


 Entrepreneur, director and philanthropist Ronnie Screwvala has penned a book on entrepreneurship, Dream With Your Eyes Open. His career spanning some 25 years and all his failures, learnings and inspirations are penned well in it. True enough to inspire the reader. 

 The book shares failures and triumphs in simple, comprehensible narrative. It constantly inspires the youth to get inspired, rise above all odds and more importantly to dream and dream big.  This man seems full of  energy, drive, passion and risk-taking ability.

 I certainly would like to quote "Entrepreneurship is a journey, not an outing. You can't make a deal with yourself by saying, 'I'm going to try this out for two years and see'. You have to stay the course. 

 Though non-fiction is a section which has a limited readership, but this book truly stands apart, not just about Ronnie, but also about what an impact it can and it does make on young minds and especially the budding entrepreneurs. One streak that constantly keeps coming over and over again is about is his passion to spark change. A change in all-set bollywood industry, a change in marketing films, a change in the perception and mindset of viewers and ofcourse a change in making the real and the surreal.

 Team work, an open work culture, failure being a part and parcel of the journey and just not the end, planning tip-to-top and embracing a vision which to the others seems unachieveable are some of the strong points of Ronnie Screwvala the man, which constantly keep following you, even after having read it so many times.

 One particular for sure, which every entrepreneur needs to learn from his Entrepreneurial Journey is - If you can talk at Length about your success, You should be equally comfortable talking about your failures, as they are the hurdles which have made you emerge you as a winner.

 Looking forward to reading another one by him ! Looking forward to my next evening at oxford !

... and that was the end of my hair problems!

It all started when I had daily visits to the Courts from office .. Scorching heat .. 
The Air-Conditioners inside the Court Room not working .. And my hair-getting sticky and rough and I was disturbed !!!

My free-flowing, my priced possession, my hair was showing different traits now... And I was losing confidence ..

I started washing my hair more regularly with ****** shampoo, but what I noticed was more hair loss, and tampered hair ... I was hating this ... I wanted a change ... a positive one ... I was getting fickle-minded ...

Around that time, I heard about the new Dove Range of Hair Care Products ... I saw through the contents ... They also had the Dove Hair Aware App which I took ... And with the conviction, and views and reviews of friends and relatives, who have been loyal customers of Dove's products I bought Intense Hair Repair Therapy ... I used the product for some days as directed on the bottle and that was the end of my hair problems!

HOW MUCH CAN SOMEONE USE YOUR NAME?

It feels bad when someone uses your name to the maximum without letting you know,for his benefit,but by defaming you.That person's motive remains to simply help your name benefit him,but your image is just nothing.At such an instance,what should you at first place,should you talk to that person,or should you just ignore him to the maximum possible extent?

My dear friends,its your guidance thats required now.

Well this is an account of one of the most tiresome days of this year for me and friend-Priyanks(whom i have referred too,in the previous post too). Starting at arnd 10.15am from Janakpuri,we decided to get to Connaught Place to submit our CV's at the CA firms(this has been elaborated by me in "References").We were really pissed off due to the response received over there.Moreover,due to the complexity of locations and the vastness of CP as in the area it covers to its credit,we had to take several rounds of the same circle to get to different firms.(Here,i would love to mention,that i have done my articleship at Barakhamba Road for almost a year,and knew each block perfectly,but that day i realised i need to revise and recapsulate the various blocks and locations again).And our perfect match of wearing heels,instead of floaters or shoes(which would have been comfortable any day),did its bit of making our day tiresome.But,still the heels had their part for "the perfect formal look".What added more to our pain and agony,was the treatment which was met to us and more importantly to our CV's at most,infact,all of these firms.A piece of advice to anyone and everyone,who would like to go to CP, please don't catch the places by their addresses,as most of them are not sequentially placed;may it be in the inner circle or the outer one..But, three relaxing moments...meeting three himanshu's..2 we knew,the 3ed one a sheer coincidence,but,infact a gud 1.
  • Himanshu Malhotra-we met him twice,infact,twice outside Keventer's itself,roaming and freaking out with a colleague of his.And the third time,he was caught walking past McDonald's of the Inner Circle...(Priyanka and me were forced to ask him..that "Are CA's supposed to be 'vellas'?")
  • Himanshu Garg-Another friend,whom we caught up with when we went to drop a resume at his office.And then,he too was out with us at Keventer's having the milk shake there,and giving us his input on the present scenario in the world around.

O0ooopppss,by the way i forgot to mention their inputs on "References" in my previous post.Sorry,buddies for that..But,i have surely compensated for that by making that input a worthy mention here. The 3rd Himanshu is a secret one,which Priyanka and me would like to disclose,only if something worthy would materialise from his firm......

But, in all a tiresome day,with are legs paining to the maxo extent possible,but these 3 people did add some goodness too it..And our support for each other(Priyanka and me),kept us walking,inspite of our legs declining to walk ahead....

A lesson learnt...An experience undertaken....And that's why my blog-'Life's an experience in itself'

References references everywhere, not a place to go...Well this line seems pretty much appropriate, as regard the present times. Imagine God asking you outside a temple,"Come inside the temple and worship me,only if you have a worthy reference." How would that be? Yesterday,i.e. on 8th of December,2008, me and my friend Priyanka Rai, went to Connaught Place to submit olur C.V.'s for articleship(training in C.A.,for my friends who are not aware of it)..We were quite disturbed and demoralised to see the magic references do, in the present scenaio..Each and every office, would place your Curriculum Vitae in its Trash Box, until and unless,it carries with itself a reference...Talent and aptitude has lost its worth without a JACK...What matters is the "Brand Name", you carry on your C.V., when you get inside an office?Nothing happenning,it was just an entire day out moving from office to office, for a good training for a good career ahead,but all in vain..Reason,or maybe our fault:We did not have a reference? We just thought that how would it be later,incase,if for every thing there had to be a reference..A reference to make a friend..A reference to get admitted in a hospital...A reference to buy a medicine...A reference to hire a taxi...A reference to live......
